| Book Club | Susanne Glazbrook | This committee will lead book discussions during a 7 week period for one hour a week during the school day. Book club takes place in the Fall or Spring for 4-6th grades. |
| Book Fair Fall | Elizabeth Lambke | Each year, Paddock school hosts two book fairs, usually one in the Spring and one in the Fall during times when parents are scheduled to visit the school for other activities or events. Children are also provided an opportunity to visit the book fair during school hours. All money raised from the book fair goes to the resource center. PTA supports the book fair by providing a book fair assistant and volunteers to help set up, clean up and staff the book fair during the hours it is open. Day and evening volunteer opportunities are available. The Chairperson will work closely with the Resource Center Director to assist with all aspects of the sale. |

| Calendar | Jenn Hurwitz | The PTA calendar is distributed in early August to all parents and contains information about school and PTA activities for the upcoming school year. |
| Community Cares | Susanne Glazbrook and Julie VanderArk | This board member will help coordinate volunteers to assist other families at Paddock that may need assistance. They also may organize a school service opportunity, organize a coat and/or Halloween costume collection, assist with PTA coat closet. |
| Copy Room Coordinator | Jill May | This board member coordinates volunteers to assist the school staff with copies. |
| Directory | Gina Brinckerhoff | This committee coordinates the development and publication of the Annual PTA directory. PTA members receive a directory as part of their membership. Non-PTA members can purchase a directory at the beginning of the school year. The directory coordinator will input information and complete the final layout of the book or print. Requires computer knowledge. Most of the work happens in late September or early October. |
| Electronic Communication | Susanne Glazbrook | This committee chairperson is responsible for managing Big Tent, maintaining the weekly calendar, distributing weekly announcements promoting PTA event and information. They are also responsible for distributing select school information via email. |
| Environmental Education | NO CHAIR | The objectives of this committee are to educate our kids and families on environmental issues and solutions such as recycling, reuse, and conservation and to encourage personal involvement in these areas. Specific activities may include: -April bulletin board featuring Environmental issues. -Environmental project/contest for the kids to promote Environmental Preservation through recycling, reuse, and conservation. Volunteers are needed to help plan activities, write articles and volunteer during Environmental Ed Days. |
| Family Reading Night | Vickie Murphy | This board member is responsible for planning and hosting a family fun evening that helps encourage the joy of reading. The evening may include: guest speakers, games/activities and concessions. |
| Giving Tree | Karin Gunderson | Each year, the PTA coordinates a ‘Giving Tree’ to collect and distribute toys for our Paddock families in need. We’re looking for volunteers who would enjoy organizing and coordinating the distribution of gifts to Paddock families during the holiday season. A few hours is all that is needed. |
| Grant Writers | Holly Lannert and Susan Buchanan | Grants are an additional source of supplemental resources the PTA uses to support the educational/cultural learning for students. Grant writers are encouraged to seek out grants that are relevant to Paddock and write and submit those said grants. |
| Holiday Breakfast/Vendor Fair | Jenn Hurwitz and Mana Bhasin | Several PTA members are encouraged to plan this event. The breakfast, vendor fair, and kids craft area are all a part of this event. Usually planned for the 1st weekend in December, the Paddock community is invited to a morning continental breakfast and then a late morning/early afternoon opportunity to shop the vendor/craft fair as well as participate in making crafts. This event planning begins in early October finding vendors to participate and then continues through November organizing the crafts to be available and the breakfast offered. |
| Hospitality/New Parent Liaison | Laura LaSpisa and Nancy Trenkle | Board member(s) plans and provides hospitality and facilitates guest relations. The 2 most important events are Generation’s Day and Health Screening Days in late November for our nursing staff. Volunteers are needed to welcome guests, provide baked goods and manage traffic flow during Generations Day. |
| KinderGym | Meghan Haddad | KinderGym is set up to help kindergarten student thrive in small, organized groups during P.E. This board member is responsible for coordinating the weekly volunteers to assist the small groups. KinderGym begins in October and concludes at the end of March. About one hour each week, during the day is required. |
| Panther Press Newsletter | Vickie Murphy | Panther Press is the bi-monthly newsletter from the Stuart R Paddock PTA. It is your main source of information for upcoming PTA programs and activities, and for helpful articles and tips on topics relative to our mission and goals. Panther Press is distributed electronically via our website and email. |
| Panther Fest | Gina Brinckerhoff | The fun fair is a huge family fun fair that is held during the school year. The event boasts games, activities and fun for the whole family. Planning committee and a large number of event volunteers are needed to make this event run successfully. |
| Programs | Carla O'Connor and Kristen Hult | This board member is responsible for choosing, organizing and promoting 2 all school educational assemblies. |
| Reflections | Erica Ariagno | Reflections is a national Celebration of the Arts program that encourages students from all grade levels to express themselves on a chosen theme through visual art, photography, music and literature. We work closely with PTA Teacher Liaisons to distribute entry forms and official program rules. We collect submissions, have them judged to select those that move on to more advanced levels (council, district and state) and publicly recognize all participants as well as display selected projects at our school and at the Reflections annual showcase. Assistance generating letters and certificates of achievement is also needed. |
| Resource Center Coordinator | Beth Hilquist | This board member works with the resource center teacher to coordinate volunteers to work in the resource center. Volunteers are needed to help with checking out books for students, shelve books and read to classes. |
| Room Parent Coordinator | Tara Patel | This board member is responsible for coordinating room parent volunteers among all classes. The chair hosts a meeting for all room parents at the beginning of the school year so that teachers and room parents can discuss plans for Halloween and Valentines Day parties, and other room parent responsibilities. A PTA room parent representative is a volunteer helper in the classroom and school, who are also PTA members. Room representatives serve as a link between the Paddock PTA and the parents, teachers, community and children. The PTA board and school staff selects room representative volunteers jointly based off guidelines in the standing rules. Responsibilities include planning the class parties for Halloween and Valentines Day, and contacting parents for other donations, as needed. |
| School Pride Decorating | Terri Scaglione | The board member is responsible for decorating the school, seasonally. He/she is also responsible for maintaining the outdoor entry area and planters. The board member is responsible for maintaining the PTA bulletin board in the main hallway of school. It is to be used to publicize upcoming events and promote the PTA. Should work with decorating committee to coordinate themes. |
| School Supply Kits | Lisa Szczupaj | This board member will work with the school supply kit company to prepare sales sheets, collect orders and distribute kits to families that order kits. This job can mainly be done from home or with committee assistance. Most of the job takes place in the spring with the sale of kits and then the distribution of kits takes place in August of the new school year. |
| SCRIP | Terri Scaglione | This committee member manages the SCRIP Gift Card Sales used for fundraising. Each month families will have the opportunity to purchase gift cards that provide a percentage of profit to Paddock PTA to use toward approved programming. |
| Six Flags | Jennifer Daidon-Riordan | This board member will organize and coordinate the reading incentive program sponsored by Six Flags Theme Park. Each child receives a reading log and must return it by a certain date to receive a free ticket to Six Flags. The coordinator copies, distributes and collects incentive forms and submits them for free tickets, which again, the coordinator will distribute. This position can be done mainly from home and takes place in January/February with ticket distribution in the late spring. |
| 6th Grade Activities | Teja Kics | To help celebrate the ‘graduation of our 6th grade students to junior high’ , the PTA sponsors year-end activities for the 6th grade class, which are decided upon and organized by a group of 6th grade parents. In the past, activities have included bowling, a picnic and a breakfast. |
| Student Valentine Dance | Julie VanderArk and Terri Scaglione | In February, a Valentine's Dance is offered to families with students K-3rd grade. Older students of these families are also welcome. The event encourages a budget to offer a DJ, refreshments, and decorations/goodies for the event. Multiple PTA members are encouraged to work together on this committee. |
| SPARK | Cindy Hollenbeck and Darcy Killigrew | S.P.A.R.K., an acronym for Special Education Parents Accessing Resources and Knowledge is a district-wide PTA committee dedicated to supporting and educating parents of children with special educational needs. During monthly meetings, guest speakers share their knowledge and expertise with parents. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend any or all of these informative sessions. No RSVP is needed. Meeting information, including date, location and topics will be available shortly on the PTA website @ www.paddockpta.org and will also be published in PantherPress. Our very own Paddock S.P.A.R.K. committee has also been busy creating an exciting and fun year for our Paddock families. In addition to supporting parents of children with special needs, the S.P.A.R.K committee aims to promote positive messages to students on the issues of character and bullying, in addition to sponsoring a family event for everyone at Paddock. |
| Sprit Wear | Bernice Giebelhaus | This committee maintains inventory of Paddock Spirit Wear and also sells items at school events. This includes determining new items that might be offered for sale each year. |
| Talent Show (grades 4-6) | Carla O'Connor and Kristen Hult | For grades 4-6, a talent show is offered. Multiple committee members are encouraged to work together to offer this event. A mandatory practice takes place with the principal and committee members after applications are turned in by students and approved to make sure all acts are appropriate. A couple mandatory practices/rehearsals are encouraged before the final Talent Show date to determine continued appropriateness and flow of the show. |
| Teacher/Staff Appreciation | Jenn Peterson | Celebrate our teachers at Paddock! Teachers are the most valued and respected people of our school community and we need to treat them as such. This board member will provide innovative and creative ways to celebrate and recognize our teachers. Past activities included a ‘Welcome Back Teacher Breakfast’, a Holiday party or gift program, end of year luncheon as well as student involvement activities throughout the year. |
| Volunteer Coordinator | Melanie Hopper | The volunteer coordinator is responsible for sending out a PTA volunteer form at the beginning of the school year to all parents/guardians. This form is then used to provide volunteer information for each event/volunteer opportunity. The volunteer coordinator compiles volunteer information and passes it on to the individual event/activity coordinators. If more volunteers are needed for events/activities, the volunteer coordinator is responsible to send out additional volunteer forms and/or emails to solicit these volunteers. This coordinator is also responsible for School Picture Day volunteers and working with the Assistant Principal to create a schedule and flow of the day. |
| Website | Beth Hilquist | The Web site chairperson is responsible for posting online content for the Paddock PTA website and maintaining it throughout the year. |
| Yearbook | Jen DeFranco | This board member is responsible for taking photographs at school events and for working closely with an outside vendor to create and distribute the annual Stuart R. Paddock yearbook. Volunteer photographers are still needed to take photos at school events, and to help the professional photographer organize kids on student picture day. The chair person is responsible for laying out the yearbook and meeting deadlines with the contracted year book company. |
